About Don’t Just Renew

Last updated November 1, 2026

Don’t Just Renew is a free referral service that connects small businesses and other employers with independent employee benefits advisors, so they can get a second opinion before they renew.

Why we exist

Most benefits renewals arrive with a higher number and a short explanation, and re-signing is the easiest thing to do. But renewing only compares this year with last year. A second opinion compares your plan with what’s available now. If your setup is solid, you’ll hear that too.

What we do

You answer eight quick questions about your company and what’s prompting your search. We use your answers to match you with an independent benefits advisor who knows your market. That advisor reviews your setup and lays out your options. Whether you stay, change, or do nothing is up to you.

We are not an insurance company, agency, or broker. We don’t sell insurance, recommend plans or carriers, or give insurance, legal, or tax advice. Advisors are separate businesses, responsible for their own licensing and advice.

How advisors are vetted

Our network includes more than 2,000 independent employee benefits advisors, often called benefits brokers. Before we refer an advisor, employee benefits industry experts review them for professional and ethical standards.

That review isn’t a guarantee of any advisor’s qualifications, availability, advice, or results, so please use your own judgment before relying on an advisor.

How we report data

Our blog relies on public sources, such as state rate filings and KFF’s employer health benefits research. We link to our sources, say when we checked them, and note when a figure is only filed or preliminary. Our articles are general information, not insurance advice.
